UNT Student Supervised under Nichole Lecznar, LPC-S
Shelby Mersbach, Student
Shelby Mersbach is passionate about working with all people, and specializes in collaborating with those in the neurodivergent population, individuals with intellectual disabilities, anxiety, depression, social issues, and body image challenges. She is a Master’s level counseling student completing her internship through the University of North Texas in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and received her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M. Through the combination of evidenced-based treatment and creativity, Shelby strives to empower and collaborate with every client on their individual journey.
At the start of her career in the non-profit sector, Shelby consistently observed a lack of educated care accessible to those with neurodivergent identities leading her to pursue her Master’s degree to help fill the gap between the need for culturally competent counseling and advocacy for the valuable perspectives of unique individuals. Through using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), she hopes to help clients reach the core of their challenges and gain understanding of their thought processes. This allows for clients to be equipped with skills to address their challenges and be empowered in their strengths. Shelby will strive to utilize effective approaches specific to each client’s goals, including mindfulness, expressive arts, play therapy, and other evidence-based frameworks.
She is equipped and excited to work with adults of all ages, children, couples, and groups.
